Dushanbe: Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani took part in the opening session of the 5th summit of Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), which was held in Navruz Palace in the Tajikistan’s capital of Dushanbe yesterday morning, in the presence of heads of states, governments and delegations taking part in the summit.
H H the Amir held a session of official talks with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, at the presidential palace, “Palace of Nations”, in Dushanbe, yesterday morning.
At the outset of the session, the President of Tajikistan welcomed H H the Amir on his first visit to the Republic of Tajikistan. He looked forward to strengthening the relations between the two countries in various fields, and invited H H the Amir to pay an official visit to Tajikistan.
For his part, H H the Amir extended congratulations to the President of Tajikistan for his country’s hosting of the 5th summit of CICA. H H the Amir underlined the significance of his visit to the Republic of Tajikistan which comes after 25 years of the establishment of relations between the two countries, and stressed the importance of promoting the bilateral relations, noting that there are huge and multiple opportunities for developing joint and distinct relations between the two countries. H H the Amir welcomed the invitation of the President of Tajikistan to pay an official visit to the Republic.

The talks reviewed the relations and friendship and cooperation between the two countries and means of enhancing and bolstering them in various fields.
The talks also tackled the latest developments on the regional and international arenas, as well as key topics listed on the agenda of the CICA summit.
The session of talks was attended by a number of Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying H H the Amir. From the Tajik side, the talks were attended by a number of the ministers.
H H the Amir met with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the sisterly Republic of Turkey, on the sidelines of the CICA in Navruz Palace, yesterday afternoon.
During the meeting, they reviewed the bilateral strategic cooperation relations, ways to boost and develop them, besides the most important issues on the regional and international arenas. They also exchanged views on recent events in the region in order to maintain security and stability.
The meeting was attended by a number of their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying H H the Amir and a number of ministers and senior officials from the Turkish side.
H H the Amir also met with President Dr. Hassan Rouhani of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the sidelines of the fifth summit in Dushanbe.
At the beginning of the meeting , the Iranian President expressed his happiness to meet with H H the Amir, noting that despite the problems in the region, the Qatari-Iranian relations are witnessing steady development, pointing out that Qatar is a neighbour, friendly and brotherly country and hopes to further develop and deepen relations in all fields, with many bilateral and regional areas of cooperation.
The President expressed Iran’s desire for dialogue and the elimination of all misunderstandings in the region.
For his part, H H the Amir said that the Qatari-Iranian relations are deep and historical, and stressed that Qatar’s historical and clear position is that any disagreement among neighbors should be resolved through dialogue.
H H the Amir thanked the President for Iran’s stance on the blockade imposed on the State of Qatar for more than two years by providing air, land and sea transit facilities. H H the Amir also referred to the strong and solid relations between the two peoples.
H H the Amir and the President discussed bilateral relations and means of enhancing them. They also discussed the latest developments in the region, especially the escalation in the Gulf region, stressing the importance of dialogue to resolve differences in order to maintain the region’s security and stability.

H H the Amir met with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, on the sidelines of the summit. The Russian President expressed pleasure for meeting and speaking with H H the Amir on the sidelines of the summit, noting the two countries’ celebration of the Qatar Russia 2018 Year of Culture. He noted the developing Qatari-Russian relations, and described Qatar as an important and pivotal partner in the Middle East.
The Russian President highlighted the important, fruitful and active cooperation in the investment field, looking forward to further support for this sector. The President also noted other fields of cooperation between the two countries in the humanitarian, cultural, military and technical fields.
For his part, H H the Amir underlined that the Qatari-Russian relations are strong and strategic and are witnessing great development especially in the fields of energy and investment. H H the Amir stressed Qatar’s readiness to increase the investments in Russia, and noted the cooperation in the cultural field, looking forward to enhance it further.
As for Qatar’s preparations for hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, H H the Amir said that preparations are good, noting the cooperation between the two countries during the organisation of Russia 2018 World Cup and the importance of enhancing the exchange of experience for Qatar 2022 championship.
H H the Amir congratulated the Russian President for the success of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2019, which the State of Qatar took part in recently and reviewed the business environment in Qatar and the overall competitive advantages offered by the Qatari market to international companies and investors.
H H the Amir and the Russian President also reviewed the strategic relations between the two countries and its development in various fields, and means of promoting them to wider horizons, especially in the political, military, economic and education areas and others for the joint interest, in addition to developing the Qatari-Russian business council and the commercial and investment areas, and encouraging businessmen in both countries to establish joint projects.
The two sides also exchanged views on current regional and international issues, mainly the developments in Palestine, Syria, Libya, Yemen and Sudan. Concerning the situation in the Gulf, both sides stressed the need to resolve all differences through dialogue and diplomatic means, and to give priority to the supreme interest of peoples in order to preserve security and stability.

H H the Amir also met with the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping. The Chinese President expressed pleasure for meeting H H the Amir, noting H H the Amir’s recent visit to China in January, which he described as very successful and greatly contributed to promoting the Qatari-Chinese relations. The Chinese President expressed satisfaction with the results of the deep bilateral relations, and underlined his readiness to work with H H the Amir to further enhance and develop the relations between the two countries.
For his part, H H the Amir highlighted the importance of his recent visit to China and its contribution to promoting the Qatari-Chinese relations, describing it as strategic. H H the Amir underlined the mutual keenness — as indicated by the Chinese President — on developing the relations between the two countries in various fields. The two sides reviewed the strategic partnership between the two friendly countries and means of developing it in all fields, especially in economy, investment, energy and industry.
H H the Amir and Chinese President also discussed the most important issues of mutual concern on the regional and international arenas
