The Embassy of Canada in Doha, currently headed by Adrian Norfolk, provides certain notarial services which are primarily for the benefit of Canadian citizens. The Embassy also provides some services for the Non-Canadians as well, however only if the documents are intended to be used in Canada.
Both Canadians and Non-Canadians can use this service. Authentication means that the Embassy of Canada certifies that the signature and seal of a government official on a document is genuine. The Embassy only certifies the genuineness of the signature and seals of the DFATD official. It does not validate the content of any document under any circumstances. Accordingly a non-validation of the content stamp is also added along with the authentication seal. Similarly before a Qatari document to be used in Canada can be authenticated by the Canadian Embassy, it should first be authenticated by the Consular Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in Qatar.
Please note that the Canadian Embassies no longer certify documents on behalf of the Medical Council of Canada (MCC).
Please note that any diploma obtained via distance learning or an online program is not accepted for attesting by the Qatari authorities. Only proper degrees or transcripts which are obtained through a regular course can be authenticated by Qatari authorities.
There is no need to come to the Embassy of Canada in Qatar.
