Lulu Hypermarket, MEC in initiative to promote local products

DOHA: Lulu Hypermarket, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, yesterday launched a new initiative to promote local products. The Ministry will launch another new initiative within few days to further boost marketing of local products under its ongoing campaign to promote local products, said an official.

“The initiative “Qatari Products Our First Choice” which was launched by Lulu Hypermarket in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Commerce will create opportunity for customers to win a total of QR100,000 on buying local products,” said Ahmad Hasan Agha, Director of Public Relations Department at Lulu Hypermarket.

He said that on every purchase of Qatari products worth QR15 the customers will get chance to enter e-raffle draw to win the prize money.

“Under the initiative, a total of 20 lucky winners will get QR5,000 each. The promotion which began yesterday will continue till June 30, 2018. The raffle draw will be held on July 8, 2018 at Lulu Hypermarket, D-Ring Road,”said Agha.

He said that the initiative aims at offering local products as main commodities not alternative in local market. “The quality of local products has improved significantly and they are competent in prices wise, said Agha. He added that local products are available at large quantity in local market and they have pretty good demands.

Elaborating about the soon to be launched initiative, Abdullah Al Kuwari, Director of Supply Department at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, said, “The new initiative will help local producers to market their products as per the best business practices and marketing tactics”.

He said that Qatari products had made remarkable contribution to stabilise local market in term of maintaining stocks, quality, varieties and prices. “Local products covered many sectors and helped achieve self-sufficiency in other sectors,” said Al Kuwari.

Al Kuwari was speaking with media persons on the sidelines of the launch of an initiative, “Qatari Products Our First Choice” to promote local products through raffle draw at Lulu Hypermarket at Al Gharafa Branch yesterday.

He has lauded the shopping complexes for promoting local products. “Shopping complexes have played key role in creating a culture among consumers to make Qatari products their first choice by displaying it prominently at the outlets,” said Al Kuwari.

He said that the Ministry of Economy and Commerce wanted to make available Qatari products in local market before the impose of unjust blockade on Qatar as the Ministry launched the initiative “Aqal Min Al Wajib” two years ago to promote and support local products.

Speaking about the new initiative of Lulu Hypermarket, Abdullah Al Kuwari said that the initiative is unique and praiseworthy as it will encourage the customers to buy local products.
